License Plate Rules and Regulations
In the Republic of Luminska, all motor vehicles are required to display a registered license plate in accordance with the country's guidelines. Below are the key rules regarding license plates and the process for obtaining one.
License Plate Format
The standard format for vehicle license plates in Luminska is as follows:

License plates must consist of the following components:
- Region Code: A two-digit number (00-12) indicating the region of registration.
- Letter Section: A sequence of two letters (AA), followed by an optional third letter for certain vehicles.
- Number Section: A four-digit number (1234).
License Plate Design
License plates must adhere to the following design rules:
- Flag and Country Code: The license plate must display the official flag of Luminska above the country code "LM" on the left side in a red or blue strip.

- Diplomatic Vehicles: Diplomatic plates must follow the theme for the class of vehicle and start with DPL

- Trailers: Plates for trailers have black text on a white background, or can use the plate classed for the vehicle
- Public Transport or Taxis: Plates for public transport and taxis must start with a T and are assigned a plate
License Plate Size and Visibility
All license plates must be of the standard Europlate size (520 by 110 mm (20.5 by 4.3 in)) and should be clearly visible at all times. They must be mounted on both the front and back of the vehicle unless the vehicle is a motorbike, in which case the front plate is optional. It is also recommended that license plates be reflective to remain visible under low light conditions.
Custom License Plates
Custom license plates are available for vehicles, and the format can be chosen by the owner, with a minimum of one character and a maximum of ten. Custom plates cost 1000 LMD (Luminska Dollar). The registration number can be any combination of letters and numbers, allowing for personalized plates.
Obtaining a License Plate
To obtain a license plate in Luminska, individuals may visit the National Transport and Licensing Authority (NTLA) office or submit an application form. The following steps are required:
- Personal Information: Applicants must provide valid personal identification documents (e.g., National ID or Passport).
- License Plate Selection: Applicants can choose either a standard or custom license plate format. Custom plates incur an additional charge of 1000 LMD.
- Payment: The applicable fees for the license plate must be paid in full at the time of application.
- Plate Reservation: After payment, the license plate will be reserved. If the applicant later registers a vehicle, the plate can be issued for use on the vehicle.

License Plate Renewal
License plates must be renewed if you get a new vehicle, with renewal fees applicable based on the vehicle type and any custom plate requests. The renewal process can be completed at the NTLA office.
